On an industrial scale, the objective of Luxury of 21 is to be a mirror in which other companies and brands should look at, so that they take initiatives related to inclusion and involve themselves. They need to integrate these groups into their human resources policies. We don’t want the luxury of 21 to stay in a process, design and production of one bag. Last 8th of May Wednesday was presented in Madrid the winner of the luxury bag of 21, a solidarity initiative driven by MAGALIE, a luxury accessories Spanish firm and DOWN ESPAÑA. Through a process that has lasted from February to May 2019, three young girls with Downsyndrome and intellectual disability have designed the new handbag to be sold by MAGALIE for this coming summer collection 2019. “The luxury of 21” is a demonstration of strength. Dares society with this positive balance that the inclusion of people with Down syndrome and intellectual disability in the fashion universe it is possible, it is sustainable, it is desirable. The luxury of 21 wants to demonstrate that inclusion is necessary and that people with Down syndrome or intellectual disabilities have a lot to contribute to society in general and the fashion sector in particular. During 3 months and over 10 sessions that lasts this project, Eva, María and Teresa will learn from the best professionals a whole process of how to create, design and talk about their creations and inspiration. 1. MAGALIE, Andalusian firm of luxury handbags created in 2016, selected 3 young girls with Down syndrome and intellectual disability through a casting. They invited them to develop the new MAGALIE accessory for this coming Summer 2019. This is indeed a pioneering project in terms of inclusion in the fashion industry . It is the first time that an independent luxury brand without any corporate support, gets involved in a program of this magnitude. This initiative has been created in collaboration with DOWNESPAÑA, the reference organization of the Down syndrome in Spain, which works to ensure autonomy in the life of this group. The classes have been taught at ISEM Fashion School in Madrid , allowing to use their headquarters facilities.
